Art Journaling: Personal and Universal Archetypes
Archetypes are universal symbols/metaphors that influence or shape our experience. Jung called them “inherited thought patterns”. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Archetype
In this next expressive art workshop, we will explore who we are in relation to archetypes.
If you enjoy storytelling, myth, and art, you will enjoy creating an archetypal art journal spread!
Have you been feeling like an angel, queen, a fool, the giving mother, the martyr,
the survivor, the warrior, the traveler, or the gypsy?
What about a wizard, goddess, Native American archetype? Characters from fairytales, history, literature? The list goes on and on.

Have fun exploring those themes by simply printing an image of an archetype to bring, or print an image of yourself to transform on a journal page.
Personal archetypes are the ones you create. Make one up! Or, no clue?
Just come anyway and receive a journal to play and explore in or bring your journal from a previous class and receive five dollar discount for this class.
You can find the most amazing vintage images online and just print a couple options for class. Whether you are relating to a queen or a fool, you can learn from your archetype.
The above is an image that I found of the Queen Artemesia who was a warrior for the Persian people.
I can change her into a warrior for peace, environment or however I can.
I can paint on the sealed printed image, add words, etc. Here is the photo. I can google wise woman and have a lovely mature wise woman image. The sky is the limit people!
