Hi guys, just wanted to share some of the work I have been doing.
As a professional artist, I have exhibited in galleries, shows and a couple of museums.
I enjoy creating large and small paintings that are highly. detailed high end work for special exhibits. I also enjoy creating quicker fun studies that are more affordable for many people. For quite awhile I struggled to understand my need to create both. While I labor for many weeks or months or over some of my work that is especially made for galleries or other exhibits I also create quicker smaller paintings that are more affordable. Enter Etsy! I have been able to do just this here. I have enjoyed selling 15 paintings on Etsy of far.
This little 9 x 12 acrylic painting is titled Leaf Love. It is ready to hang with painted gallery wrapped edges. It is a good example of a small affordable painting I just created for sale on my Etsy Store where you can shop at Lauraspaintbrush

So, now a little on the process or the art of creating art!
For this particular piece, I first played with colors that attracted me. Reds, iron oxide, yellow ochre. Once I had a fun background I found some blue greens that were complimenting the colors and added them along with a little colored tissue paper. The leaf study came from the curve of a plant in my yard. Nature is always a constant inspiration for me even in a modern painting. The contrasting black and whites came after I drew out the vine.
A little about movement. I love to show a line here or there that moves around the canvas to suggest movement. It can be a brush stroke or line to enhance the painting.
