December 4th I had the privilege of facilitating a therapeutic and healing art doll workshop. Also called a spirit doll, this doll was created for the purpose of empowering women through creative self expression.
First, I practiced creating clay faces and figures as the wise woman, grandmother spirit, mother archetype, spirit of nature doll, and dolls that have yet to express who they are.
The doll could represent self or the other or could represent a personal or universal archetype.
Materials were branches, moss, shells, beads, feather, repurposed and fabric remnants, clay faces, nuts, seeds, and more!
Here are some examples of participants work.
Just loved this concept…warm regards Karen
Thanks, I did research based on other art therapists and healing artists’ work.
It was a wonderful experience!
Hi Laura,
I work for a large hospice program in Orlando serving patients and families from months old to 110.
I have a per diem Art Therapist position open but have had few applicants.
Can you let me know if you know of any qualified art therapists that may be interested in applying for this position?
Thank you for any advice that you can provide.
Hi Carol,
I just sent you a conversation through an email from bohnlaura1@gmail.com
thanks
Laura
HI Carol,
Have you found an art therapist yet? Marnita Patton is an art therapist in Orlando and she might have some advice and know others.
